Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not; a sense of humor to console him for what he is.
– Francis Bacon

A long time ago, there was a man named Sir Francis Bacon. You may know him from his quote “Scientia potentia est”
(Knowledge is power). Bacon has been called the father of empiricism and the father of modern science.

Bacon was more than a scientist. He was also a brilliant belletristic writer. Some people in the mid-19th century (and even some people today) believed that Francis Bacon wrote some or even all of the plays conventionally attributed to William Shakespeare!

Bacon was also a funny man, he even liked bad jokes.

Our website is a mix of funny stuff, science, literature, movies and creativity. We couldn’t find a better metaphor than Sir Francis Bacon.
